Frequently Asked Questions – Scavenger Hunt Programs

How do I book?

We will provide a quote and a description of the program including recommendations to make it a special event.

We will send you a confirmation note clarifying the days event and logistics involved.

What happens beforehand?

We create a unique hunt map based on all the best elements of the physical environment.  We also put in special puzzles, unique trivia, special effects that are all mixed in to make it absolutely engaging.  We then customise using our app technology and special applications to create an app purpose built for the program day.

The app will create a hi tech experience and allow for roam free navigation to each location using GPS clue markers.  Significant customisation is factored in depending on location and group requirements.

What needs to be organised prior to the day?

We liaise with you to lock down logistics for the day and any special requests for the group. We send you a pdf confirming a logistics plan for the program.

Program length, meeting point, supervision, design considerations, winning team selection, finish location are all worked out.

How many in a group is required?

Groups vary in size.  A good size number in a team is five – six as an average number guide.

We have done a scavenger hunt before what else can be considered?

Our newest programs have world class map technology creating a different scavenger hunt experience.  No longer is it linear routes. We have special riddles and puzzles that can be customised to your event.

Is it physical?

Quite the contrary it is designed to be team oriented, to socialise, group problem solving.  Our GPS maps allow us to design the locations of all GPS challenge hotspots and are arranged in a way to maximise the event experience and reduce wasted down time of walking between locations. This is a really important factor as we design to maximise team engagement and not time walking between locations.

How long does an event go for?
This is dependent on location but as a guide 2 – 3 hours. We have found from years of working with clients that 2.5 hours is the optimal time frame. This may differ with a program that requires multiple locations across different urban landscapes and more time needs to be factored in.
Do teams get training on the system?

Yes, we have one or two locations close by to the start point where we oversee learning the ipads. Generally groups are very quick in learning to use the format.   We do give teams tips on how to use the electronic compass so that they maximise its use.

How do we identify teams?
Colored markers are allocated to each team or used as part of a challenge exercise.
Hi tech maps - what are they?
We design for each event a map that is ipad based and allows each team to choose which hotspot they want to visit. Only by visiting that location can they unlock the challenge.
GPS Location markers - what are they?
On each map on the ipad are GPS location markers. These are specific locations we have chosen that signify an important location to be visited by your team. Hotspots are GPS based. Once located by your team the challenge is unlocked on your ipad.
What is the countdown clock?
Is used on some locations where the activity is counted down.  The faster it is completed the more points earned.
Are there different types of formats to the amazing scavenger race?
Yes, there are many.  Most popular is either a linear format where all teams are on the same route or where teams choose which GPS location marker to visit.
Can we add our logo onto the hunt in some way?
Yes we can insert your logo onto a prominent position within our technology application so that it appears in a prominent position before each challenge location is played.
No use of paper is this possible?
For years we have dreamt about about eliminating paper and becoming environmentally friendly.  Well, yes by using ipads we operate with amazing technology that includes, maps, compasses, augment reality, location based trivia, torn puzzle assembly and more.
Activities - what are they?
With the advent of ipad technology we can now offer even more unique experiences.  Augment reality, timer clock challenges, prove your here assignments, physical challenges, trivia based location and more. This is all detailed in our proposal.
Invitations
We can provide you with examples of invitations for groups.
Finish Location

Consider what your group will be doing afterwards as this may influence the choice of route. In some cases we can finish the group right at the venue that they will be going to or we can help you consider a place to unwind and relax. Groups love to share stories afterwards so we can assist you to find a great place for an afterward place to unwind.

Settings

The more varied the setting the more interesting it becomes to stage the program. We like to utilize the best from the local landscape. We do use varies locations but large open spaces or parklands can be difficult at times as distances can be considerable for groups to traverse and the energy of the program can diminish. But we have latest in pokemon technology so we can just about take any location and turn it into a challenging hunt experience.

Group Mix

Try to make sure that there is a spread of talent and skills across a group. Do not put all the extraverts together! They love to be together but mixing them up creates the best outcome on the day. It will often depend on the occasion as to the best mix.  We can give you suggestions.

Legs on the Day
A good mix of activities allow the talents of the whole group to shine. We ensure that there is a healthy spread so that everyone can partake in them.  We plan for up to 30 GPS challenge hotspots that can be visited.
Allocating points
The technology we use creates for a live team scoreboard.  You see on your screen how your team is tracking.
Wow Surprise Factors
The scavenger hunt should be an adventure where the group is creating their own fun and entertainment. Each program needs to have a surprise or a twist that makes it a memorable event. For example: our art gallery in the art heist scavenger hunt, our mystery shop owner who is an undercover agent or our video footage of the ransom demand in our ransom program or our clown for a part or a boat to pick up the team for a water leg.
